The work presented in this paper deals with a proposal of new topology multilevel inverter to act as Static synchronous Compensator (STATCOM). proposed is the five-level Asymmetric Stacked Multi-Level Inverter (ASMLI). One essential features that distinguishes it from conventional types achieves required voltage levels fewer switching devices, leading simplifying control process. Moreover, includes using Finite Control Set Model Predictive Current (FCS-MPCC) structure. FCS-MPCC strategy performs finite optimization process at current sampling instant provide optimum states next instant. Therefore, allows injecting harmonic and reactive power compensation reduce source distortion improve profile factor. mechanism reduces cost function, which function measuring network current's deviation reference value how capacitor deviates values. LCL-filter was used connect setup grid, its resonance actively damped multivariable capabilities FCS-MPCC. framework simulated MATLAB/Simulink 9.1 environment tested distorted healthy compared two-level converter RL-filter. STATCOM inject raise factor unity harmonics by current. prototype could absorb 70% harmonics, nearly 25% better than inverter, an appropriate amount power, two case scenarios. performance achieved promising steady-state operation speedy response during transients balanced capacitors voltages.
